Bernie in conversation with Dennis Scully for Business of Home In conversation with Business of Home’s podcast host Dennis Scully, Bernie sat down to discuss the beginnings of de Le Cuona and her sometimes ‘unpopular opinions’ on the changes coming to the industry. Highlighting the main differences between the UK and Europe vs. America, Bernie spoke of her suggestion of introducing more easily accessible workrooms in the US. While it is easier to find upholsterers and curtain makers here in the UK, or even further afield in Europe, workrooms and bespoke services seem to be more difficult to find in The States. Bernie claims that, ‘the whole industry is changing dramatically’, hinting that a vast array of these changes need to happen in America. In speaking of the time constraints that fabric houses and designers suffer from, both Bernie and Dennis have highlighted the issue of oversupply, which urges the need for new products on a constant basis. Perhaps coming as a surprise to many, Bernie has clarified that from now on, “I will launch when my products are ready”, arguing that the time pressures of set events often lead to products being too hurried; “I’m setting my own timetable”.
