POSTPONED EVENT: BERNIE DE LE CUONA AND TOM BARTLETT IN CONVERSATION WITH FIONA MCCARTHY

POSTPONED EVENT: BERNIE DE LE CUONA AND TOM BARTLETT IN CONVERSATION WITH FIONA MCCARTHY

"MATERIALITY AND SUSTAINABILITY; CREATING A SENSORIAL ENVIRONMENT"

The opening of de Le Cuona's Pimlico Road showroom has been rescheduled for October 2018, which means this event date has been postponed.  We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and look forward to welcoming you when the new showroom opens its doors.

Join Bernie de Le Cuona and Tom Bartlett in conversation on how the desire to work closely with highest quality natural materials and artisan processes brought together the collaboration of de Le Cuona with Waldo Works to create a sensorial and interactive environment – the next generation of a fabric house.

Bernie de Le Cuona commissioned Waldo Works to develop the physical embodiment of her vision for a new type of fabric house. One of tactility, deep respect for raw materials and craftsmanship partnered with innovative
thinking, in which to experience the superlative fabrics. This London Design Festival event celebrates the opening of de Le Cuona’s Pimlico Road showroom and marks 25 years of this international luxury brand with its world-famous artisan fabrics and lifestyle collections.

About New de Le Cuona store at 44 Pimlico
The store is an engaging and sensorial space where the softer textures of textiles in linen, wool, silk, velvet and cashmere have a material palette backdrop of concrete, terrazzo, ironwork and pale amber resin, with the common thread of craftsmanship.

It captures the spirit of Bernie de Le Cuona, her passion for textiles and travel, culture and contrast. It reflects the de Le Cuona lifestyle – a natural, timeless, layered luxury rooted in raw sophistication with a sense of the unexpected. Arranged over two floors this immersive environment is about experiencing textiles and communicating the artisan nature of a company which selects the best fibres and works with the finest European mills. Fabrics are distinguished by their particular ‘handle’ and ‘fall’ that truly sets de Le Cuona apart.
The store covers just under 200 sq. metres/just over 2000 sq.ft. arranged over two floors.
The ground floor balances the fabric collections of exquisite quality with exclusive furniture and one-off collector pieces. Visitors are greeted by a long table with a gentle metallic patina which houses large, easy to access fabric samples alongside niches with swathes of hanging fabrics that are beautifully lit.
The Colour Lab, a wall showing each fabric in every shade, gives a sense of the breadth and scale of the collections as well as the interactive character of this space.  Beyond are vibrant, dedicated upholstery areas showcasing extraordinary pieces sourced by Bernie de Le Cuona from Africa and around the world.

The store serves trade clients and retail customers. The lower ground floor is reserved for de Le Cuona bespoke and a personalised shopping service. Here livable
luxury is presented in the edit of crafted accessories including new specially woven bed linen in the de Le Cuona palette, throws in cashmere and alpaca, signature cushions, natural fibre rugs and small, ready-made pieces of upholstered furniture.

‘The Pimlico Road store is an incarnation of all my dreams. It showcases my fabrics and home collections all under one roof and lets me break with some of the norms within the industry and create a really exciting environment.’
Bernie de Le Cuona, founder of de Le Cuona

‘The process of selecting luxury fabric in a sympathetic and finely-tailored environment has been elevated into something new. Collaborating with Bernie on de Le Cuona’s showroom has been a great opportunity to celebrate the value of simplicity, honest materiality and enduring craftsmanship.’
Tom Bartlett, founder of Waldo Works
