Art of Design, VERANDA, 2010 For their second annual Art of Design Awards held in October 2010, Veranda Magazine awarded de Le Cuona the award for ‘Best Fabric Design’. More than 100 candidates were nominated by leaders in the worlds of architecture, interior and garden design, furniture and accessories, jewellery and fabric. Other notable winners from that year include Paul Wiseman for Interior Design and Gil Schafer for Architecture.Bernie was recognised in this category for her obsessive sense of quality. Her quest to create the perfect cloth has taken her to India and Europe in search of traditional weavers. Bernie told Veranda, ‘I don’t follow trends. I do whatever is fabulous. It’s created a look that’s neither contemporary nor classic but has its own personality.’ de Le Cuona is honoured to be the recipient of this award.
