Super Nature - The WOW!house Living Room The WOW!house at the Design Center, Chelsea Harbour is the first-ever exhibition to feature rooms created by over 20 of the worlds’ most prestigious interior designers in a lateral showhouse of 400m2. In a unique collaboration de Le Cuona and United in Design’s recent graduate apprentices Roshu Shrestha and Christine Omorere created the Living Room for the WOW! house which runs until 1 July 2022. For the story behind the collaboration and to find out more about United in Design and WOW!house click here. The de Le Cuona living room is a sophisticated space that gives a sense of peace and contentment. Here the focus is on the natural and the sustainable, designed for the wellbeing of people and the planet. It is also a timely space that takes key messages beyond this first designer showhouse. “Wherever we live, we feel a deep connection to nature. This living room retreat is inspired by the principles of biophilia, bringing together natural materials, sensory forms, and earth colours to create a harmonious whole.” Bernie de Cuona de Le Cuona uses only the finest natural fibres for its fabrics and the introduction of Pure 100% organic GOTS certified linen is a landmark in the industry. The living room is dressed indifferent weights of linen from the soft feature walling and invitingly tactile upholstery to the drapes that pool on the oak floor and frame the greenery in the vertical living wall. The innovative design of the soft furnishings showcases de Le Cuona’s interior tailoring service where each element is beautifully crafted and detailed. From the gossamer sheer and heavy weight linen curtains with unique delicate eyelash and frayed fringing features to the contemporary upholstery and handmade cushions and throws that demonstrate drawn thread work and waxed cord stitching, all exhibit the creativity and versatility of de Le Cuona’s makers. Artwork highlights are ‘Mixed Media on Canvas’ by Emma Zhang in a palette inspired by the earth, plants, and stones; hand-coiled sculptures using coarse black stoneware clays by Abigail Ozora Simpson; organic porcelain vessels by Olivia Walker, fallen wood artworks by Nic Webb and the branch-like patinated bronze candlestick by French designers Gilles et Boissier. The leitmotif is the beauty of the handmade and our relationship with the natural world. de Le Cuona ‘Buffalo Dust’ bespoke unlined linen curtains, daybed in ‘kalahari Rhino’ and a selection of bespoke cushions and throws.
